Pacific Sintered Metals - Solutions |
High Performance P/M Powder Metallurgy (P/M) is a metal processing
technology that converts metallic powder into
useful engineering components of various shapes
and properties. The major advantage of P/M is
its ability to make highly complex, high
precision parts at a fraction of the cost of
competing technologies such as machining and
investment casting. It has gained widespread
popularity in a wide array of applications from
automotive seat belt components, electric
contacts, soft magnetic cores, to wear resistant
tooling for the plastic industry. Read more... |

Fully Dense P/M
Pacific Sintered Metal's Superwear Division is the world leader in fully dense P/M High Speed Tool Steels and Alloy Steels, in addition to the alloy bonded Titanium Carbide materials with wear performance rival cemented Tungsten Carbide. Read more... |

Alloy Bonded Tic Our alloy
bonded Titanium Carbide materials are engineered for severe
wear applications. They outlast conventional tool steels by
a factor of 10, while at the same time providing much better
fracture toughness than cemented Tungsten Carbide. In an
annealed state, these unique materials are machinable by
conventional machining methods, such as turning, milling and
drilling. In heat-treated state, they can achieve hardness
of HRC 69. Read more... |

Metal Injection Molding
Pacific Sintered Metal's Metal Injection Molding (MIM)
division offers our customers a new dimension
in shape complexity and component performance.
Metal Injection Molding can economically
produce complex shapes beyond the capability of
conventional P/M. It is capable of making parts
with features such as OD/ID threads and
undercuts without the need for secondary
machining. The fine particle size used in Metal Injection Molding feedstock allows for sintered density of close to theoretical density vs. the 80 ~ 90% achievable through conventional press/sinter. The combination of fine grain size and high density gives MIM components properties matching those of their
wrought counter parts. Read more...
